Emilia Clarke has promised “huge” things from Game of Thrones season six, revealing that shooting for the show “legitimately almost killed” the cast and crew.

Clarke will be returning as Daenerys ‘Mother of Dragons’ Targaryen for the next run of the hit HBO fantasy based on George RR Martin’s epic novels.

Plotlines are being kept tightly under wraps, especially as the TV series has finally overtaken Martin’s novels, but actors have been dropping subtle hints here and there about what we might expect.

“Legitimately, this season almost killed us. Like, it is epic, it is huge, it’s insane, it’s silly” Clarke told E! Online at the SAG Awards, not dramatically raising our expectations at all. Surely this means dragons galore?

Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark has told fans to expect her character to “really come into her own” in season six.

“She really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it’s really good,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “Sansa is finally getting that storyline that you’ve been craving for the past five seasons.”

Game of Thrones is set to return to HBO on 24 April, airing in the UK on Sky Atlantic the next day.
