Game of Thrones season 7 episode 5 'Eastwatch' set the scene for HBO series' biggest scene yet

A lot of characters are going to meet for the first time

The latest episode Game of Thrones season seven episode kept up the pace with an outing we deemed like “at least four in one” with characters traversing locations in Westeros quicker in the space of one hour than they did in entire previous seasons.

One character's journey has set the stage for what will undoubtedly be a scene featured in the finale - and it has all the makings of being the HBO series' biggest scene yet.

'Eastwatch' saw Tyrion head back to King's Landing for the first time since season four to find his brother Jaime in a bid to tell him he needs to convince Cersei of the approaching threat of the White Walkers that will render any battle for the Iron Throne completely pointless. His pitch? Cersei meets with Daenerys “to discuss an armistice” after Jon Snow - who will venture North of the Wall - has acquired proof that the White Walkers exist.

Later, Jaime tells Cersei how he met with Tyrion (she already knew, of course) and explains the plan. Revealing she is pregnant with her brother's child, she levels that bowing down to the dragon queen's wishes “could be in our immediate interest,” seeming to agree to the meet.

A Thrones fan of any size would no doubt be excited by the thought of seeing all of the show's big players on screen together for the first time - Daenerys, Jon Snow, Cersei, Jaime, Tyrion, et al. - with the opportunities endless for how such an encounter could end - it's not a stretch to assume that Caersei has something up her sleeve; could it be to do with the mysterious Golden Company?

Game of Thrones airs in the US on HBO every Sunday where it is simulcast in the UK on Sky Atlantic at 2am. It is repeated that same evening on both Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
