Fans of hit Nineties sitcom Boy Meets World can now sneak a peek at the first look trailer for upcoming sequel, Girl Meets World.

Disney has released a 30-second clip featuring Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel reprising their roles as Cory and Topanga.

The new series promises to focus on the New York couple’s 13-year-old daughter Riley, played by Rowan Blanchard, as she begins her great escape into the “world”.

In the trailer, rebellious Riley attempts to sneak out of her bedroom window with best friend Maya but her dad scuppers the pair’s big plans in much the same way that his own father used to do.

Cory was the star of ABC’s Boy Meets World, which followed his own transition from badly-behaved schoolboy to confident student and finally, mature husband. In Girl Meets World, he is a history teacher, while Topanga runs a trendy after-school hangout.

Original cast members Lee Norris, Rider Strong and William Daniels will also be back in the parts of Minkus, Shawn and Mr Feeny respectively.

Girl Meets World is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made Boy Meets World so popular,” executive producer Ben Jacobs said last year.

That Samuel L Jackson will be as excited for the reboot as others seems unlikely, after he recited a theatrical ode to Boy Meets World on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show last week.

The spin-off is set to debut on the Disney Channel in June. It was extended for eight additional episodes in January, meaning there will be a total of 21 shows.
