In news that has shocked Britain to its core, The Great British Bake Off is moving to Channel 4 and Mel and Sue have quit. Never mind Brexit and the carnage that unleashed, we have a serious case of Breadxit in the oven and the ominous smell of burning is lingering in the air.

This evening’s episode will be bittersweet, the first with the knowledge that we have mere hours left of our favourite hosts’ brilliantly cheeky innuendos and endearingly cringeworthy baking puns.

Naturally, fans of the long-running BBC show have not found the facts of this unsettling case easy to accept, and Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood haven’t even left yet.

Bake Off armageddon is upon us, so to lighten the mood, here are the reactions that made us chuckle through our tears:
