I'm A Celebrity winner: Carl 'Foggy' Fogarty crowned king of the jungle
The former World Superbike racer beat Jake Quickenden and Melanie Sykes to win the reality TV series
Carl Fogarty has been crowned the winner of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! 2014.
The former professional biker beat X Factor contestant Jake Quickenden to win the ITV reality show.
The 49-year-old was tipped by fellow contestant and runner-up Melanie Sykes to win the competition, and was hailed the “Tarzan of the jungle” by his fellow camp mates for his bravery and strength.
Known to his camp mates as “Foggy”, the ex-sportsman said he was not a team player to begin with but soon got involved and became a key member of the group.
Admitting he was not really a “people person”, he said the best part of the experience had been getting to know “ten really nice people who were not up themselves”.
Fogarty particularly built up a relationship with footballer Jimmy Bullard, whose close friendship earned them the nickname “Joggy”.
Bullard paid tribute to the I’m A Celebrity winner, calling him a “strong minded true gent – just a great character and a good friend”.
Fellow campmate Kendra Wilkinson nicknamed Fogarty “Crocodile Dundee”, adding that he was the strongest person she knew.
Speaking about what it would mean to win the competition before the result was announced, Fogarty said: “When I used to race I used to feel a big responsibility to win for the public, but to win would be the best thing ever in my life.”
