John Krasinski responds to rumours The Office will get a revival

'Guess who didn't get a call? Me. What does that say?'

It could just be a rumour born out of wishful thinking, but a lot of people seem to think NBC's The Office is getting a revival.

The topic was finally breached with star John Krasinski, who played Jim on the show, by Ellen DeGeneres, after a report claimed the network was eyeing up a new series that would apparently "feature a mix of new and old cast members".

Already excluded is Steve Carell, with a search for a new Regional Manager to follow his Michael Scott, and subsequent successors, believed to be already underway. Plans supposedly aim for a 2018-2019 air date, coming off the back of the successful NBC return of Will & Grace.

"I did hear that on the internet," Krasinski responded. "Guess who didn't get a call? Me. What does that say? NBC is like, 'You know who we didn't like? Jim.'" He then added that, if he hadn't gotten a call, "It better not be true."

As DeGeneres insisted, The Office couldn't possibly exist without Jim, which seems to make it likely any revival plans aren't yet concrete. But if the option was on the table? "Oh my god, are you kidding? I'd love to get that gang back together."
