In another devastating turn of events, Linford Christie has injured himself on The Jump, pulling a hamstring and becoming the fourth contestant to require treatment this series.

Only days ago was it announced Beth Tweddle would be leaving the competition, following in the footsteps of Rebecca Adlington and Tina Hobley.

According to reports, Christie will not be competing in some of the upcoming challenges, but is adamant about returning to the show.

He told the Sun: “I pulled my hamstring. I didn’t even know I had hamstrings at my age. All of the sudden, I did a ski jump. I landed funny and I can’t even touch my toes. I felt a pop.

“I’ve had a scan and get some treatment tomorrow. I should be back for next week. I am coming back.”

The Daily Mail are reporting that he has quit the show, yet a spokesperson told The Independent he is just taking a week out in order to return to the show. During last Sunday night’s show, Eastenders actor Sid Owen also badly injured himself after falling over while doing the Snow Cross.

Host Davinia McCall had to comfort viewers by saying the actor was fine: “Sid is absolutely fine. He is getting checked out by the physio. He is fine.”

This latest accident will no doubt lead to more viewers calling for the show to be cancelled, with many having previously Tweeted at Channel 4 asking them to stop this nonsense.
