Dancing with the Stars champion Kaitlyn Bristowe discusses coronavirus experience

Reality TV star Kaitlyn Bristowe, famous for appearing on The Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars, has shared a cautionary tale about Covid safety measures.

Bristowe, who won the 2020 series of the celebrity dancing contest, revealed that she and her boyfriend Jason Tartick had both contracted coronavirus.

“Unfortunately, this is our Christmas card this year,” she wrote in the Instagram caption of a photo of her and Tartick looking tired. “We have Covid.”

She explained that she and Tartick had both been quarantining ahead of seeing their families for the holidays.

However, they made the decision to invite a friend over, and later tested positive for the virus.

“We thought we were making a responsible decision to have ONE person over, who had been tested daily for work,” Bristowe said. “Negative tests 4 days in a row. The day we saw her, she became positive which we all found out the next day.”

She said she hoped the couple’s experience might serve as a warning for anyone thinking about taking risks during the pandemic.

“We just want to let everyone know that we thought we were being safe, but Covid is bigger than us,” Bristowe said, adding that her thoughts were with healthcare workers and anyone spending the holidays alone or away from family.

Tartick shared his thoughts on his own Instagram page, pointing out how one slip-up had cost them dearly.

“Shame on us, we didn’t stick to the plan,” he said.

“You just can never be too cautious and careful. There’s no outthinking this god-awful virus, lesson learned.”

In the latest update from her Instagram, Bristowe shared a story that revealed she has lost her sense of taste and smell – one of the most widely reported symptoms of Covid-19.
