A Kevin Spacey reference was cut from the latest episode of US drama This Is Us in light of the sexual misconduct allegation against the actor.

The season 2 episode - titled 'The 20s' - features a flashback scene to the year 2008 where character, struggling actor Kevin (Justin Hartley), is left reeling after his roommate tells him he's successfully booked an acting job in a Christian Bale film.

According to TVLine, the press screener version of the episode saw the roommate specifically state the gig is a role in a Spacey film.

Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of sexually harassing him as a 14-year-old at the then 26-year-old actor's apartment in 1986.

Spacey later issued a statement of apology in which he also came out as gay leading to criticism from several prominent Hollywood figures for implying causation with being closeted and behaving inappropriately with a minor.

In light of the accusation, Netflix has shut down production on the sixth and final season of political drama House of Cards - in which Spacey plays lead character Frank Underwood.

Instead, it's developing three spinoff ideas with one focused on popular character Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly).
