Meet the new Love Islanders 2018

Everyone’s favourite reality TV show Love Island is back, with the new series airing on ITV2.

One dramatic episode in and there's already people being 'muggy', 'salty' and 'extra', just some of the unique words you can expect to hear.

Here's everything you need to know about what went on in episode one.

Need a reminder of who’s heading to the luxury villa in Majorca, Spain? Then flick through the gallery below, which holds snippets of information on each of the eleven tanned, toned, and tattooed contestants.

This year’s Love Island will be the longest season of the show so far, this year’s 150,000 applicants being told they would need to be available for a minimum of ten weeks for the series.

Caroline Flack – who will once again be hosting – previously said this series will be the “longest yet”. Ian Sterling will also be returning as the voice of Love Island.

Some other tidbits of information: while unconfirmed, the contestants (many of whom leave their jobs or take extensive leave to be on the show) get paid a rumoured £200 a week for participating.

ITV2’s popular spin-off show Aftersun also returns this year, while the channel has also launched a podcast series named The Morning After.

For those absolutely obsessed with Love Island, there's now Island-themed merch available online, including phone cases, wash bags, and water bottles available. A personalised phone case costs £10, which, to be fair, is not half bad.

Customised Love Island-themed phone case, for those who want the world to know how much they love Love Island....

And the spoilers for tonight's episode are flooding out. We won't post anymore here, because otherwise what's the point? However, one publication has already reported on a big twist in the first episode and some very awkward initial encounters.

In case you hadn't heard, Danny Dyer's daughter - Danni Dyer - is going to be in the villa.

We'll be eagerly waiting to see what her Pot and Pan (getting in the cockney rhyming slang spirit already...) has to say about her shenanigans, so watch this space.

Judging by the "exclusive" clip shared from the official Love Island Twitter account, none of our eager contestants are allowed to wear an actual outfit.

Minimal swimming costumes seems to be the villa uniform. Let's hope for their sakes it's warm in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar.

If tonight is going to be your first time watching the show, it might seem like an impenetrable force of drama and intrigue. Like jumping into Luther on series three, or trying to listen in to a couple's argument.

Don't worry, we'll post some of the key terms you need to know to enjoy the first episode of Love Island.

Muggy

One of the best words to come out of 2017's Love Island. Basically it means someone is mugging you off, playing you for a fool. Genius, right?

Coupling

This might be the most important word of all in Love Island land.

We can expect the contestants to pair up tonight (i.e. the coupling) based on their first impressions of each other.

Don't worry, they will have a chance to recouple at a later date (I'm sure you can work out what that means).

Salty

Means acting in an angry way to someone else. Let's hope there's some salty-drama tonight.

Pied

Even non-Love Islanders might have heard of this one. Pied, meaning being dumped by someone, is now in the general British lexicon.

That's just how powerful Love Island is everybody.
