Love Island catchup: The three biggest talking points, from twins Jess and Eve to Posh Ollie's roving eye
Among this year's singles are celebrity siblings, landowners and police officers
The first winter series of Love Island has officially begun as the contestants make their way into the villa.
The UK winter season will introduce 12 new hopefuls looking to find love, this time in South Africa.
Last year’s contest was won by Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea in what proved to be one of the most controversial series in the show’s history.
Among this year's singles are celebrity siblings, landowners and police officers, who will be joined by brand new host Laura Whitmore.
Here are three of the biggest talking points from the first episode:
Sophie and Connor seem smitten already
After they coupled up, Sophie and Connor seemed for form an immediate bond as the rest of the contestants settled into the villa. That said, Connor had a little bit of a sulk after Sophie made fun of his revelation that he once had a threesome after going on a first date with someone. Perhaps it's not true love after all.
Posh boy Ollie has a "child in sweetshop" vibe
While he initially seemed very taken with 22-year-old Paige, landowner Ollie definitely has a roving eye. He's already asked Siannise if she might be interested in anyone else (meaning him), and later managed to spill his drink everywhere upon seeing twins Jess and Eve arrive at the end of the night.
Speaking of twins...
Jess and Eve are clearly here to cause trouble. The students and VIP hostesses arrived at the end of the night, after the other contestants had coupled up. In the next episode, they'll be asked to pick two guys they fancy, meaning two other girls will be left "single and vulnerable". Uh oh.

Love Island continues each night on ITV2 at 9pm
Police officer Mike thinks his charming nature will attract attention in the villa. His mum is hoping he'll meet someone and move out of her house. Celebrity crush? Beyonce and Rihanna.

Callum is a scaffolder from Manchester who claims to have "builders' banter" – whatever that is. He's "a cheeky chap" but down-to-earth as well. His celebrity crush is Megan Fox.

Sports science graduate and builder Nas claims to be different to the guys who have been on the show before. He describes himself as "funny, caring and considerate – a well-rounded person". His celebrity crush is Aladdin star Naomi Scott.

Ollie is an estate owner and heir to the Lanhydrock estate in Cornwall. He claims to be an "alpha male" but expects to be "the butt of all jokes". He's a self-confessed attention-seeker who wears his emotions on his sleeve. His celebrity crush is Lily James.

So this is new, we're opening with a montage of the contestants walking out of their "jobs" and over to the island. Good to confirm early on that Paige the "singer" cannot, in fact, sing.
Reminder of why we're all here – the contestants are all hoping to be end up as the last couple standing, for which they'll win a £50,000 prize.
The girls are here first, freaking out over the pool. First here are Paige Turley and Siânnise Fudge. Yes, that is her real name.
Paige is a 22-year-old singer, she describes herself as a "drama queen" who is "loud and flamboyant". Apparently she once dated Lewis Capaldi, and is the inspiration behind his massive hit single "Someone You Loved".
Next to the villa is Leanne, a 22-year-old customer service advisor from London. She describes herself as the "Beyonce" of Waltham Forest, and "the life and soul of every single party". Technically*** she's never had a boyfriend – she confesses she's afraid of commitment but pledges to change and is open to finding someone special.
Shaughna Philliips, 25, is on the prowl for someone different to who she's usually attracted to, "someone cocky". Her previous boyfriend cheated on her with their next-door neighbour, apparently. Ouch. Someone took "love thy neighbour" a little too literally, it seems.
