Love Island star Yewande responds after Lucie ‘bullying’ claims: ‘You refused to call me by my name’
Reality TV stars competed on series five in 2019
Former Love Island star Yewande Biala has responded after fellow contestant Lucie Donlan apparently alleged that Biala “bullied” her while on the show.
Donlan reportedly made the claim in an Instagram comment that was shared on Reddit and on social media.
The comment appeared to be in response to a fan who asked about a YouTube video that Biala had made with fellow islander Joe Garrett, during which she allegedly referred to Donlan as a “horrible person”.
Donlan and Garrett dated while on the show, but later separated.
The 21-year-old allegedly commented: “[Yewande]’s always bullied me, I’m not bothered about her opinion…makes her look bad. Not sure where she said that though!”
Apparently responding to the comment as it was circulated on social media, Biala tweeted: “You refused to call me by my name because it was too ‘hard to pronounce’ now you wanna say I bullied you!! Bullied!”
Amber Gill, who won the 2019 series, replied to Biala’s tweet, seemingly confirming they were discussing Donlan, writing: “Na when she said can I call you ‘Y’ I said lol no you can’t can I just call you ‘her’ you were peaceful in that exchange It was me with the vim [sic].”
She later wrote from her own account: “Call me problematic. But if I see something false or that I don’t like I’m speaking regardless and if it’s about my friend I’m yelling idc [I don’t care].”.
Fellow contestant Amy Hart, who starred in the same series as Gill, Biala and Donlan, also appeared to reference the row, commenting: “I bit my tongue today, tomorrow may be different.”
The Independent has contacted representatives for Biala and Donlan for comment.
