Narcos season 3 trailer released by Netflix

The first trailer for the new season of Netflix’s hit drama Narcos has been released.

Cast additions Michael Peña and Diego Luna will head up “Mexico”, the revamped fourth season scheduled to be released on 16 November.

While the first three seasons took place in Columbia, Narcos has switched locations for its forthcoming run. It will “explore the origins of the modern drug war by going back to its roots”.

Episodes will chart the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s, with Luna playing Félix Gallardo and Peña playing the DEA agent chasing him.

Narcos: Mexico will explore the origins of the modern drug war by going back to its roots,” the official synopsis reads.

Earlier this year, a location scout for Narcos – Carlos Muñoz Porta – was shot dead near San Bartolo Actopan, an area said to have some of Mexico’s highest murder rates.

The first two seasons, both critical hits, focused on drug kingpin Pablo Escobar.

Narcos: Mexico premieres on Netflix globally on 16 November
