Nick Grimshaw promises X Factor exit is 'not a diss'

The reality show shake-up also saw Caroline Flack dropped as a presenter

Nick Grimshaw wants to assure X Factor fans there's no bad blood between himself and the show, though he's announced his departure after a mere one-year stint on the judging panel, which saw a turbulent run spent battling boss Simon Cowell.

He took to his own BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show to explain the matter; "I loved it, I did love it and it’s not a diss to the show. This is not me storming out of X Factor saying, 'Screw you, Cheryl.'"

"It’s a great show and I loved it but it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing," he continued. "You can’t have a curry on it on a Saturday night when you’re there. What’s good about X Factor is watching at your friend’s house while you’re having a curry. When you’re there, there’s no curry. Simon promised me curry. I genuinely loved it, there’s not bad blood but I want to watch it on the telly."

That said, he still acknowledged his experience on the panel was less-than-rosy, joking; "Don't do it!", in response to requests for advice for potential replacements. Rumoured replacements for Grimshaw include One Direction's Louis Tomlinson and former judge Louis Walsh.

X Factor now enters its 13th year, sparking fierce rumours the show is facing cancellation, especially after the news ITV had poached The Voice from the BBC. That doesn't seem to be the case (yet), though Grimshaw isn't the only personality departing the show. Caroline Flack was dropped from her role as the show's presenter, despite criticism largely circulating fellow co-host Olly Murs.
