Despite it being arguably its most talked about show, the BBC is keeping its cards very close to its chest with regards to Peaky Blinders and its upcoming third season.

Last month, Independent.co.uk learned that the broadcaster was working towards an potential April premiere, and on Instagram this week producers appeared to confirm that they’re still on track.

The official release date has now been announced

Posting some behind-the-scenes shots, @peakyblindersofficial wrote: “Wrapped season III will land very soon.”

The new season has been described as “good as f*ck” by a cast member, and will apparently see Tommy and the gang go international - appropriate given the show has now picked up a lot of fans in the US.

“I am genuinely thrilled at the prospect of Season Three. I think it will be the best yet," creator Steven Knight said. "Lots of things familiar, but lots of things are new,” he said. “It’s still a Birmingham story and it always will be. Now, it has international consequences. I can’t wait to see it myself."

Cilian Murphy and Tom Hardy will both be back, joined this time by Paddy Considine, who will play ‘the representative of a force beyond anything Tommy has previously encountered’.

As Tommy suggested at the end of the last season, season 3 will open on his wedding day.
