Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Fleabag triumphs at the Emmys

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has responded with horror to the news that many of her fans have been wondering if she votes Conservative, announcing that she is “proudly not a Tory”.

The Fleabag writer and star made the remark in a new interview with US Vogue, after it was pointed out that “Is Phoebe Waller-Bridge a Tory?” is one of the questions that automatically appears in the search bar when you Google her.

“I’ve never seen that! What the hell! I don’t know what’s worse—the idea that people are writing that with hope or fear?” she said. “No, I’m not a Tory. Proudly not a Tory.

In the article, it was also revealed by Waller-Bridge’s story editor on Fleabag and Killing Eve that she sometimes likes to “write on her computer and then link to a TV screen in my house, so I can look at what she’s typing as she’s doing it”.

Waller-Bridge is writing a feature film, which she also wants to direct, based on an idea that hit her like a “bolt out of the blue” just after she finished Fleabag.

Plot details about the new movie have been kept under wraps, but Waller-Bridge previously revealed the project is “very strange”.
