Piers Morgan tests negative for coronavirus after missing Good Morning Britain
Morgan had developed ‘mild’ symptoms
Piers Morgan has tested negative for coronavirus after developing “mild” symptoms.
The TV presenter updated his followers on his health on Monday night, tweeting: “My Covid-19 test was negative.”
He explained: “I was advised to take the test by my doctor after developing possible coronavirus symptoms, and was entitled to do so as a Govt-designated essential worker. I’ll be back on @GMB as soon as my doctor advises I’m OK to return to work.”
Morgan was forced to step back from presenting duties on Good Morning Britain on Monday, with Ben Shephard stepping in as Susanna Reid’s co-host.
The duo opened the show by sending their “best wishes” to Morgan, with Reid joking: “We will be on our best behaviour when you’re not here.”
However, GMB viewers questioned why she wasn’t self-isolating too, having been in contact with Morgan the previous week.
“Why is Susanna Reid on here when she was in the same studio as Piers on Thursday four days ago,” asked a fan, while another branded the show “disgusting and hypocritical”.
