The Crown- Season 2 trailer

Following a teaser, Netflix has unveiled the first full trailer for season 2 of The Crown, which will see Claire Foy's Queen Elizabeth II deal with an illegal war in Egypt and the scandal surrounding her prime minister, Harold Macmillan.

The lavish, two-minute-twenty-seconds trailer beckons the 1960s and the convergence of British and American royalty, with Michael C. Hall and Jodi Balfour joining the cast as Jack and Jackie Kennedy.

Her Majesty expresses anxiety over the fragility of the monarchy while trying to rein in "wild spirit" Prince Phillip, her husband being played again by Matt Smith.

Interest in the series has been boosted recently because of what is on the horizon, Olivia Colman having been cast to take over from Claire Foy in season 3 and beyond in a later stage of the Queen's reign.

The Crown, based on the play The Audience, is created and written by Peter Morgan, directed by Stephen Daldry and produced by Andy Harries.

Season 2 hits Netflix everywhere on 8 December, 2017.
