We enter Batter Week on The Great British Bake Off with the heaviest of hearts; but, still, the show must go on.

With Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc stepping down as hosts of the programme following Channel 4's acquisition of the Love Productions show, every moment left with the series in its current format feels precious; especially with rumours Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry will also be leaving the show.

And, thus, there was some added excitement to Batter Week's reveals - with 23-year-old teaching assistant Benjamina Ebuehi rather deservedly picking up the honour of Star Baker after giving an absolute masterclass in creating lacy pancakes during the technical challenge, and going on to win the round.

Unfortunately, it was the end of the road for Kate Barmby and she was sent home; after judge Mary Berry described her attempt at lacy pancakes as unfortunately a "bit clumsy", while Kate described her own churro bunny heads as roadkill, rather appropriately.

Elswhere, viewers went a little bit mad for the episode's Yorkshire pudding challenge - and the interesting choice of fillings within; while Mel and Sue reminded everyone why their departure from the show is quite so devestating.
