The Handmaid's Tale: Season 3 Trailer

Fans of The Handmaid’s Tale can breathe a collective sigh of relief as the show has been renewed for a fourth season.

The announcement came on Friday, with three episodes left to air in the current third series.

Based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, The Handmaid’s Tale is set in a dystopian reality where America – now known as Gilead – has turned into an oppressive regime in which women have no agencies over their bodies or reproductive rights.

Elisabeth Moss stars as June, the show’s protagonist, a Handmaid (meaning a fertile woman assigned to a couple for the purpose of bearing them a child) who tries to resist the government’s efforts to control women.

The Handmaid’s Tale, which also features Alexis Bledel, Samira Wiley, Yvonne Strahovski and Joseph Fiennes, has won 11 Emmys since its 2017 debut, including Outstanding Drama Series in 2017.

The show’s third season is scheduled to wrap up on 14 August.
