Reviewers are sharing their first responses to WandaVision and it sounds like the show is “unlike anything Marvel Studios has done” before.

The series, which is the first original Marvel show to arrive on streaming service Disney+, stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as superheroes Wanda Maximoff and Vision.

While we don’t know many specific details about WandaVision – you can read everything we do know here – the series has been described as part “classic sitcom” and part “Marvel epic”.

With the first three episodes being made available to reviewers ahead of its debut on Friday (15 January), fans have been treated to early reactions to the show, with one reviewer calling the series “weird as hell (in a good way)”.

“The first 3 episodes of #WandaVision are the legit business,” one critic wrote. “A funny, sharply-tuned knockout. Will satiate the tastes of sitcom & superhero fans, especially when it spoofs the conventional.”

Indiewire’s Kristen Lopez agreed, commenting: “Three episodes into #WandaVision and I. Am. Hooked. Not only is the series a loving recreation of classic television shows (everything beautiful), but the story is so compelling.”

“I got to see the first three episodes of #WandaVision and it was everything I hoped it would be: funny, clever, creepy, and above all, sort of tragic,” Nerdist’s Hector Navarro tweeted. “The reality is: WandaVision is taking the Marvel Cinematic Universe places it has never gone before, and there's no going back.”

Fandango’s Erik Davis agreed, commenting that the show was “truly unlike anything Marvel Studios has done”.

Describing WandaVision as “a terrific blend of big strangeness and aching heart,” USA Today’s Alex Biese added: “Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany have never been better as these characters and I cannot wait to see where it goes from here.”

The first two episodes will arrive on Disney+ on Friday, with a new episode dropping every Friday until 5 March.

WandaVision begins on Disney+ on Friday 15 January.
