Because absolutely everything must be sequeled, retold or rebooted, 1979 cup classic film The Warriors is coming back as a TV series.

It will be directed by Captain America directors Joe and Anthony Russo, written by Frank Baldwin and is currently in production with Paramount TV and Hulu, according to Deadline.

Episodes are expected to be an hour long, with the Russo brothers adding their ‘own unique brand of grit, pulp, sex and violence’ to the story.

The Warriors was adapted from Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel of the same name by director Walter Hill, centring on a gang in an alternate New York City who are framed for murder.

The original has already spawned a number of spinoff properties, including a video game by Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games.

Let's hope it fares better than the TV remake of Limitless, which was cancelled after one season earlier this year.
