Westworld season 1 finale: Did you catch the HBO show’s first post-credits scene?

They used the surprise scene to catch up with fan favourite Armistice

Post-credits scenes are usually employed if an episode/finale has concluded very neatly; it’s a way of adding in a little cliffhanger or tease to get people hooked in for the next instalment.

You can be forgiven for turning off before Westworld’s on Sunday night then, given there was plenty of event and unanswered questions in its season finale - plus the show has never before used one.

Thousands (myself included) snapped their laptops closed when the credits rolled, only to notice Twitter in hysterics a few seconds later when the action started back up.

Here’s the post-credits scene in its entirety:

Armistice has become something of a fan favourite, so presumably the creators just couldn’t resist giving her a little coda and showing that she didn’t perish helping Maeve escape.

The snake-tattooed host is mangled but seemingly still fighting, and we can expect her to be back next season, giving rise to several questions: now she’s gone full renegade, where will she head? Without tech help, will she be down to one arm? Will Hector also continue to fight back with her? Will they make it to “SamuraiWorld”?

We won’t find out for quite a long time, with season 2 not set to arrive until 2018.
