Since her first appearance on The X Factor, Honey G has been a controversial figure, some believing her to be an inappropriate contestant.

When Sharon Osbourne revealed the rapper had made it through to the live finals, viewers were outraged, over 10,000 signing a petition to get her withdrawn from the show in three days.

During her most recent performance of Kriss Kross’s 1992 hit “Jump”, some Tweeters believed Honey G - real name Yasemin Kara - said a racist word, as reported by The Sun.

“My jaw actually just dropped with shock when Honey G dropped the N word, unacceptable,” wrote one person on the social media website.

However, Kara has since defended herself, writing on Twitter: “To be clear I did not use any offensive language. I sang the correct lyrics and said ‘kicking the flavour that makes you wanna jump’.”

The moment can be heard at the 50-second mark in the performance.

The actual lyrics to the accused verse go as follows: “I'll make ya bump hump wiggle and shake your rump / Cause I'll be kicking the flavor that makes you wanna Jump.” When listening to the performance along with the lyrics, it’s obvious nothing foul was said by Honey G.

Meanwhile, The X Factor caused controversy recently after Dermot O’Leary announced a huge change to the voting system, allowing viewers to vote before the contestants had even performed.

The changes were likely made following news this season’s live show debut registered as a ratings catastrophe after viewing figures hit a 10-year low. The X Factor results show takes place at 8pm.
