F1: Lewis Hamilton insists British Grand Prix should not clash with Wimbledon final
The five-time champion is upset at the potential clash with SW19 and now England vs New Zealand in the Cricket World Cup final
Lewis Hamilton is upset that the British Grand Prix could clash with Wimbledon on Sunday.
The showcase Formula 1 race will compete for attention with the men’s singles final at SW19.
While the Cricket World Cup final between England and New Zealand and the Tour de France will also compete with the British Grand Prix, especially with Channel 4 now broadcasting the final.
Hamilton leads the standings heading into this weekend’s race, ahead of Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas by 31 points, but he failed to hide his disappointment at the schedule clash.
“What I don’t understand is why the organisers put the race on the same day as all these other big events, like Wimbledon,” Hamilton said.
“I really don’t understand it. This is such a special weekend and it needs all the focus of the country and not a small amount.
“I think people will be switching between channels on Sunday not sure what to watch.

“Naturally I come here, there are a few of us Brits here, we come here to raise the flag and do the country proud.”
