Earlier this month, during the ready-to-wear collections in Paris, fashion fans were taking time out between shows to explore the city's lingerie shops. Paris has the best selection of undie emporiums in the world, full of lacy wisps and push-up, pull-in fantasies.

What they didn't know was that M&S had just launched a range of luxury lingerie to rival purveyors of the frothy and frilly. It offers something for everyone. There are fitted black, lacy French knickers and sheer lace, underwired bras with matching high-cut knickers that even Sharon Stone would die for. They come in purple, white, cream, red, black and navy. Tiny lace-edged nightdresses in navy, cream, red, black and pink will confuse the best of the `It' girls (Should I wear it out clubbing or in bed?) There is even an underwired "smoothlines" full slip in black or white to wear under sheer dresses.

The great surprise with this range is the price. Nothing costs more than pounds 20, and if that doesn't set you hot-footing it to your local M&S, nothing will.
