Ibiza's latest boutique hotel opening is a strong option for those seeking a smart break on the White Isle. On arrival at the property, the imposing building stands out among its surroundings. Curved lines contrast with structured shapes to create a contemporary design.

The architectural studio of Victor Rahola and interiors expert Mayte Matutes teamed up to work on the look. It is so easy to fall into the trap of all white interiors when creating a beach retreat. However, in this case the designers have cleverly created a fresh, clean vibe as well as making the space feel warm and inviting.

A Mediterranean blue theme runs throughout. Modern furnishings, made bespoke for the hotel, such as Eames or Arne Jacobsen style chairs, wooden stools with colourful tops, low hanging lighting and comfortable beds with statement headboards would not look out of place in Scandinavia.

Many of the 117 sea views have sea views and balconies which are ideal for enjoying the sunset. The showers have nifty windows panels which overlook the ocean.

The Deluxe Room with a Sea View has all the ameneties you need for a relaxing break. However, the Duplex Apartment Suites are the most luxurious. Split across two floors there are two bedrooms and a 120m2 roof-top terrace with a private swimming pool. Guests in these suites and the Loft suites also have access to their own Smart Cabrio cars to explore the island.

Fear not if your room doesn't come with a private pool as there are two available to hotel guests, surrounded by Bali beds, sun loungers and an outdoor bar shack. There tends to be a good balance of a buzzing ambience without feeling overcrowded.

The location is spot on. A very short stroll from Talamanca beach, close to the most exclusive marinas, best restaurants and night-time venues you can opt for partying or more of a chilled out vibe. Ibiza town is also nearby.

Vital statistics

On the menu: Breakfast is served until 12pm and a continental spread with a healthy menu is available for those fancying superfood fixes. The à la carte restaurant serves health-conscious cuisine with Asian and European influences. We would recommend dining outside, where a DJ pops up early evening.

Price: Rooms start from 250 Euros per night with Sea View Suites priced at 350 Euros per night.

How to book: Online at od-hotels.com.
