Where does the Nineties woman go for her stylish basics? Each week we set out to ask someone with contempoary tastes what they like and how much they spend. And is Marks & Spencer still the ultimate destination for knicker shoppers?

Name Chloe Davies.

Occupation First Artist at the Royal Ballet.

Where do you buy your clothes? Jigsaw, Karen Millen, Harvey Nichols.

Because? Unique designs, variety, quality.

Are your knickers from M&S? Some of them.

When did you last buy clothing from Laura Ashley? Ten years ago.

Describe the style of your home Very simple and spacious - in a mixed style, incorporating some Victorian features and some modern. In general it has a warm feel to it.

Where do you shop for it? Department stores such as John Lewis because they always have plenty of stock and good service. For unique items I go along the Fulham Road and King's Road.

Chucked out your chintz? Yes, in favour of more original designs, and plain and simple style.
