One Direction and Katy Perry might have been the big winners at last night’s American Music Awards, but who were the winners on the red carpet?

From Rita Ora in Zac Posen, to Kendall Jenner in Yigal Azrouël and Nicki Minaj in Alexander Wang, musicians, models and celebrities paraded glamorous (and revealing) dresses at the ceremony.

The stars of the moment were decked in their finest on Sunday for the 42nd American Music Awards, which took place in Los Angeles.

Attendees included Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Rita Ora, Gigi Hadid, Heidi Klum, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and Taylor Swift (who won Dick Clark Award for Excellence).

So whilst the dress code is formal, it's not quite the black tie extravaganza seen at bigger awards ceremonies like the Oscars. But that didn't stop some attendees pulling out all the stops including German supermodel Heidi Klum and reality TV stars the Kardashian sisters, all whom opted to wear couture dresses, while Nicki Minaj went for a mini dress by Alexander Wang and One Direction boys for all black everything.

The Artist of the Year's award and favourite group both went to One Direction, Favourite Male Artist went to Sam Smith and Favourite Female Artist to Katy Perry.
