You've heard of pop-up shops and restaurants, but a private members' club? Surely not.

In celebration of the release of its latest resort collection, Italian label Miu Miu is launching the most exclusive club in London next week.

Designer Miuccia Prada will host a private pop-up at the Café Royal hotel. The site will include a bar and terrace, with drinks and beats provided by guest mixologists and DJs, while a restaurant sees the likes of April Bloomfield (founder of New York gastro-pub The Spotted Pig) and Margot Henderson of East London's Rochelle Club taking over the kitchen for a night.

Add to this a varied programme of talks and debates chaired and hosted by The Gentlewoman's editor-in-chief Penny Martin, as well as Alice Rawsthorn of The International Herald Tribune, and you have the sort of fashionable high-mindedness that Prada does so well.

Launched just before the resort range hits the shops – in early December for those not on the guestlist – the club will also house a small boutique stocked with limited editions and collaborations from Vivienne Westwood and Stephen Jones, as well as the showcasing the new collection. The ruched leather "bauletto bag", crystal-encrusted platform sandals and enamel necklaces are playful but chic, fun but considered, and sure to make Christmas wish-lists.
