We love… Blue jean baby

A new pair of jeans is just what the doctor ordered in this tricky end-of-sale period. The J Brand Ellis style, which has been dubbed the "Strinny" because it's a hybrid of straight and skinny, is top of our shopping list. £200, selfridges.com

We're not sure about… Slogan styles

Hair accessories brand Kitsch is launching a range of slogan hair ties. We have nothing against slogans, but there's a time and a place for them – having a band in your hair that reads "nerd" is not it.

Yves Saint Laurent's Touche Éclat is a cult beauty product that can be found in most women's make-up bags. For summer it's been given a makeover and for the first time is available in a rose tint. £25, boots.com
