A book by US four-time Olympic gold medalist and BBC sports commentator Michael Johnson is due out from HarperSport in autumn 2011, announced UK trade resource The Bookseller on July 23.

"This book will give me the opportunity to share my views on what it takes to achieve success at the Olympic level," said Johnson. "One of the components that helped me to achieve unprecedented success as an athlete was my desire to understand how I needed to train, prepare, and compete, to be the best I could be."The as-yet-untitled book will also feature several exclusive interviews with fellow Olympic champions.

Johnson is one of the most successful track athletes of all time, holding an all-time record with four Olympic gold medals and nine World Championship golds. He is the only athlete to have broken the 200m and 400m world records at the same Olympic games, and he continues to hold the world record for the 400m.

Johnson has been a BBC commentator since 2000 and is set to become a columnist with UK daily newspaper The Times.

The release of Johnson's book will coincide with the build-up to the 2012 Olympic Games in London. An autobiography by Jamaican three-time track gold medalist Usain Bolt is due for release shortly after the Games.
