Ikea is renowned for its unlikely fashion items.

Take the Swedish retailer’s famous Frakta carrier bag, which has become a cult item despite the fact that it costs just 50p and is made from the brand's signature durable blue material.

Now, Ikea has produced yet another fashion item set to become just as iconic as the Frakta bag: a bucket hat.

The Knorva hat is made from the same hard-wearing blue polypropylene as Ikea’s Frakta bag and has “IKEA” written around it in yellow.

Currently, the Knorva hat is only available to buy from Ikea’s Australian website and costs $3.50 AUD (£1.94).

However, it is out of stock in the retailer’s Adelaide store.

“This hat is made of the same hardwearing and durable materials as one of the world's most used bags,” reads the product description.

“Provides protection from the sun and rain, and is easy to keep clean – just rinse and dry.”

Fashion fans are already getting themselves into a frenzy over the new item.

“Forget the Gucci bucket hat, you’ll find me rocking the Ikea bucket hat," teased one person on Twitter.

Another chimed: “I’ve never wanted an Ikea bucket hat so bad.”

News of Ikea’s new hat comes after the retailer announced a collaboration with Lego on a new storage range, with the aim of “infusing more fun into storage around the home” for children and adults.

The range, which is called Bygglek, is described by the retailers as a “playful storage solution”, offering consumers a collection of household products that are both practical and playful.
