Never mind fall: the key beauty trends this spring

Fashion weeks have just concluded in Paris, with everyone talking about fall's fashion and beauty trends. But what about spring, the season that's actually just around the corner? Here's a little reminder from last season's shows.

If one trend transcends everything from nails to hair to makeup, it's this: make a statement. This spring's hot looks aren't for wallflowers, and if they won't have you reaching for color, nothing will.

Kohl rimming will be replaced with colorful eyeliner, as seen at Derek Lam's and Peter Som's shows: try neon pink or turquoise to brighten up your look, and keep it on for summer as these colors go well with a little tan.

If you prefer eyeshadow to liner, make it a green shade (yes, green). If Chanel can do it, you can do it, too.

Don't try all of these trends at once (remember the "either-or rule" for eyes and lips), but the statement lip will be orange, not red, this season. Just ask Marni or Isaac Mizrahi.

Hairstyles are not as easy to sum up - they depend on your spring wardrobe. If you've decided to go with the 1970s-inspired look that dominated the runways, opt for middle-parted, free-flowing hippie locks, as seen at Cavalli, or crimped hair similar to the looks seen at Marc by Marc Jacobs. For romantic, flowery clothes, try sophisticated braids like on Jason Wu's runway.

Finally, manicure fans will get to unleash their inner beauty freak with eccentric styles including moon manicures and glitter polishes (Ruffian, Dior).
