Celine has tapped 80 year old renowned American author Joan Didion to be the face of its spring/summer 2015 campaign.

The campaign which features Didion in oversized sunglasses, a classic black dress and necklace, is shot by Juergen Teller.

Didion is an ideal fit for the brand which under the helm of Phoebe Philo has become famous for its creations which are both effortless and timeless.

Didion began her career working at Vogue and is most famous for her writing on American morals and culture. She is a style icon with pictures of the writer in the seventies earning her the credit of the original 'cool girl.'

In addition to Didion, Celine has also cast Marie-Agnes Gillot, a French ballerina and Freya Lawrence a choreographer and model to star alongside.

This campaign follows a year which has seen the fashion industry embracing all ages; Dolce & Gabbana's new campaign features three stylish older ladies and Karen Walker eyewear famously showcased new season designs on models aged between the ages of 65 and 92.
