Since the Alexander Wang for H&M collaboration was announced back in May, there has been plenty of speculation of what New York’s favourite designer would present for the high street brand.

A first peek at the upcoming collaboration, which is set to hit stores on 6 November, has been revealed, not on the catwalk but on Manhattan’s streets modelled by Rihanna.

Yes, the pop star walked the streets of New York, wearing a sporty grey crop top and matching leggings, both with Wang’s initials AW emblazoned across them. The singer is the lucky first recipient of pieces from one of the most eagerly anticipated designer/high-street collaborations of the year.

The long awaited collection will allow fans of Wang to get their hands on his designs at a fraction of the usual price. Long queues and overnight campers outside stores are expected in the days leading up to the launch.

Whilst the look worn by Rihanna is perhaps not to everyone’s taste, prospective customers will be hoping the rest of the collection includes outfits that are a little more forgiving.

The collection follows a long line of successful collaborations of designers for the Swedish high-street giant, including Isabel Marant, Versace, Marni, Lanvin and Maison Martin Margiela.

It’s set to hit 250 H&M stores worldwide and online on 6 November.

Other upcoming affordable collaborations currently available include Altuzarra for Target, which follows Peter Pilotto’s success for the US supermarket chain.
