Karl Lagerfeld and the yoyo effect
Show all 3Apparently, it's not just Karl Lagerfeld's own weight that's making the headlines (his book, The Karl Lagerfeld Diet, was released a few years back) but also his fluctuating opinions on the weight of others. After he famously exclaimed last year that it would have to be "fat mommies" who were against size-zero models, V Magazine has now released his plus-size photography that will be published as part of its upcoming 'Size Issue.'
Burlesque dancer Miss Dirty Martini was photographed by King Karl himself in both his own and Chanel accessories at the Rue Cambon headquarter in Paris, starring alongside Coco Chanel lookalike Jane Schmitt, who also played the brand's founder in one of Lagerfeld's short films, Paris-Shanghai: A Fantasy.
While Lagerfeld hasn't officially commented on his change of mind (and won't do so in the magazine as Relaxnews was told), his model stated: "Posing on the Double C's, modeling like my life depended on it, I thought, ‘Why not? Why can't designers make fashion that mimics the architecture of hips and busts and then choose models that wear it perfectly?'"
V Magazine has also pre-released its 'V Love U Just The Way U R' spread, featuring models of all shapes and sizes. The 'Size Issue' hits US newsstands January 14.
