There may be sexier jobs but singers Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne are sacrificing themselves for the better cause -- and the paycheck: both singers have been signed as new clear faces for anti-acne label Proactiv.

There may be sexier jobs but singers Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne are sacrificing themselves for the better cause - and the paycheck: both singers have been signed as new clear faces for anti-acne label Proactiv.

Together with actress Jenna Fischer ( The Office), Perry and Lavigne are joining the ranks of tennis star Venus Villiams, singer Jessica Simpson, and actress Jennifer Love Hewitt who have all previously modeled for the brand.

According to Women's Wear Daily, Proactiv is the biggest-selling anti-acne brand, followed by Johnson & Johnson's Clear & Clear and Neutogena's Skin iD. "In the face of that competition, we needed to elevate the brand and reposition ourselves," Ben van de Bunt, co-chief executive officer of Proactiv owner Guthy-Renker, told the paper. "We are definitely reintroducing big celebrities again, and we are coupling it with a slight difference in the conversation where we view acne as the enemy [...]."

Katy Perry, who has become a front row fixture at international fashion shows, is relatively new to ad campaigns - last year, she posed for H&M's Fashion Against AIDS campaign - while Avril Lavigne has already launched her own fragrance, Black Star, and starred in a fashionable campaign for Canon's ELPH camera.
