From goji berries to oily fish, there are a whole host of superfoods that have hit the supermarket shelves. But there are a whole bunch of other nutrient powerhouses you might not know about.

The word superfood can mean different things to different people but essentially they are nutrient-rich sources that pack large doses of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

They also come with bags of health claims promising to help you fight disease, feel more energetic and even lose weight.

While we’re familiar with the accustomed greens, nuts and berries searing grocery prices lead us to wonder what other foods are super good for you?

Maca Powder

Known as an adaptogen – a fancy word for a plant that helps balance, restore and protect the body – Maca is a plant that grows in central Peru. Most commonly sold in powder form, maca root benefits include hormone balance, increased energy, improved memory, stamina and focus.
