Back in the early 90s it seemed nothing short of laughable to think that Sega’s catalogue of games would one day find a home on a Nintendo system, skip forward 20 years and so eager are Sega to get their games on to the 3DS that they’ve even decided to re-release titles from the long extinct Game Gear portable system.

Three classics are set to make the journey, with Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble, Shinobi and Dragon Crystal all making a welcome return.

In Triple Trouble Sonic must continue to battle the nefarious Dr. Robotnik as he searches for yet more Chaos Emeralds, while Joe Musashi, Red leader of the Oboro School, must overcome an evil force emanating from Neo City that has captured your fellow students in Shinobi.

Elsewhere, Dragon Crystal, has the player meander through a misty maze crawling with terrifying creatures. Your goal to find as many useful weapons as possible that will help you defeat your foes and ultimately to escape the maze and a deadly fate.

The titles will be available on Thursday for £4.50, £3.60 and £2.70 respectively via Nintendo’s eShop.
