An ambitious, albeit flawed attempt at a feudal Japanese sandbox game. Set within the fictional kingdom of Amana during the Sengoku period, Way of the Samurai begins in the midst of a war between rival samurai clans. Cleverly, which side you fight for – if any – is up to you, the game adapting to the player’s decisions. Unfortunately, this approach is tempered by shallow sword-fighting and unimpressive looks, leaving the suspicion that this one was rushed out to hit the shops.
