Electronics company gets touch sensitive with new low-cost digital camera and camcorder range
HP unveiled a new range of point-and-shoot digital cameras and lightweight camcorders at the 2010 PMA photo imaging International Convention and Trade Show on February 19.
The cameras and camcorders will range in price from $99 to $199 and are geared towards entry-level consumers looking for a camera or camcorder that is easy to use. Models such as the HP CW450t point-and-shoot digital camera come with an LCD touchscreen display and HP's newly designed camera touch interface.
"HP is giving consumers a better way to interact with point-and-shoot cameras by offering models with advanced features at a great value," said Mark Ostendorf, manager, Business Development, Personal Systems Group, HP.
"Entry-level consumers will love the HP CW series while customers who want a premium experience will enjoy the touch interface of the HP CW450t or PW460t and two of our new camcorders."
Touchscreen cameras are becoming more commonly available in the point-and-shoot camera market. Sony, Nikon, Canon, Kodak and Samsung all offer touchscreen cameras but most are in the $200-$400 price range.
HP's range of cameras and camcorders are expected to start shipping in spring.
