Facebook has added an easy way to add hundreds of different frames to your profile photos.
The frames are intended as a way of showing support for a sports team or cause, or marking specific moments. They appear as a frame around users’ profile pictures, taking up some part of the screen while allowing the original profile photo to shine through.
The site has added a new, easily accessible library of all the possible profile photo frames. It allows people to pick them out according to various categories — primarily sports leagues, though also including other options like causes, which includes frames for Australian marriage equality and the World Wildlife Fund.
Other pages will be allowed to add their own frames in the “coming months”, Facebook told The Next Web.

All of the frames can be added for a custom amount of time, disappearing after either an hour, a day or week — or never disappearing at all.
Mark Zuckerberg wrote about the feature in a post focusing on the ICC World Twenty20 cricket tournament. He pointed out that many people in India were adding Pakistan to their profile pictures, and including the hashtag “Profiles for Peace”.
“When we designed the profile frames feature, we just wanted to help people show support for their favorite teams or a cause they believe in,” wrote Mr Zuckerberg. “But this story shows that the more connected we are, the more we realize that what unites us is more important than what divides us.”
