It's a highly unusual error message (Hasbro)

An unusual alert referencing My Little Pony has started popping up on the Xbox One.

The error message has been spotted by multiple users of the console, and has caused plenty of confusion.

As well as failing to provide any useful details about the error, it also tells users to “read it and weep”.

A screenshot of the message was posted to Reddit earlier today, by a user called TechGuruGJ.

“Mock Error Title,” it reads.

“This would be some long description about the error. Read it and weep! And if you haven’t looked up this phrase on the internet, please do! You will find a My Little Pony episode called ‘Read it and Weep.’ Cloudchasers and Wonderbolts, you’ll never be forgotten!”

Cloud Chasers and Wonderbolts are, of course, different groups of ponies from My Little Pony.

“That’s disturbing”, “What the hell is going on?” and “Am I being Punk'd?” were some of the questions asked by bewildered users on the thread.

It was also reported to Xbox's corporate vice president Mike Ybarra, who looked into it and quickly cleared the situation up.

The simple explanation is that it wasn’t meant to show up to users.

Some Redditors have seen the funny side: “People really need to have some sense of humor,” wrote Pasxc. “It's obvious this is not meant to reach production code, but mistakes happen and it's a funny joke nevertheless.”

Others, however, have predicted a very rough day at work for the developer behind the message.
