A remastered Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 3DS will be ready by June, a 25th anniversary title is on the way, and Skyward Sword for the Wii is shaping up nicely, according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.

"Some of you may want to hear about Zelda. Our intention is for you to be playing this June," said Iwata at the Game Developers Conference opening keynote on March 2, standing in front of six screenshots from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

The game was first released in 1998 on Nintendo 64 home console and has since been re-issued on GameCube (2002) and for the Wii via the machine's online Virtual Console service.

The 3DS version is to make use of the handheld's touchscreen and 3D display, with enhanced graphics to boot.

"This year it's the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda," Iwata continued. "(Series producer) Mr Miyamoto is working on a plan that will allow all Zelda lovers to celebrate together."

A 25th anniversary edition of Super Mario All-Stars was released late 2010 in honor of the Nintendo mascot's own introduction in Super Mario Bros., as was a red-color Nintendo Wii.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword "feels very solid," said Iwata before stepping aside to play a montage of gameplay footage.

Nintendo of America's president, Reggie Fils-Aime, had earlier spoken of Nintendo's strategy of offering both "unique and nostalgic" game experiences.

Sony and Microsoft have instead pursued more cutting edge technologies with their recent consoles, such as high definition video output and online multiplayer gaming.
