Weekly tech agenda: innovative consumer electronics products debut at International CES

The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) will kick start the 2011 technology events season when it starts on January 6. CES is already a hot topic of conversation across the web. Leaked pictures of some of the cutting-edge products set to debut at the show have been delighting technology fans.

The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world's largest consumer technology trade show. It is also one of the most closely followed events on the technology calendar - alongside CeBIT and Computex Taipei - as it welcomes numerous high-profile technology companies and is the launch-place for many groundbreaking new gadgets and high-tech products. CES attracts around 126,600 visitors each year and is a "must-see" event for technology enthusiasts.

NextGen Conference

NextGen is a one day conference that partners aspiring young entrepreneurs with their more experienced counterparts and venture capitalists. Speakers include President of Clarium Capital Management Peter Thiel, Square COO Keith Rabois, and entrepreneurs Mark Suster, Travis Kalanick and Larry Chiang. The NextGen Conference is a niche event and is much smaller than TiEcon (the world's largest conference for entrepreneurs) or Standford's eConference.

1st Click Asia Summit

The Click Asia Summit is a Digital and mobile marketing conference and expo. The first edition of the event is expected to attract around 1,000 delegates. Click Asia Summit will host hands-on workshops, seminars and informative discussions about social media. More than 50 speakers including Microsoft's Eric Bozinny, HootSuite's Ryan Holmes, LinkedIn India's Hari V Krishnan, and IBM's Raghavendra Satish Peri will focus on the industry's key issues. Macworld Expo

Founded in 1985, the Macworld Conference and Expo is the largest annual Apple Macintosh event in the world. Hundreds of companies offering dedicated Mac products and services will be at the event to share their expert advice and show off their latest technology. Well over 35,000 people have already pre-registered for Macworld 2011 making it much larger than Apple's own annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) which is capped at around 5,000 places.

M-Days is a congress-fair for mobile communication, publishing and content solutions. 90 exhibitors and 140 speakers from leading mobile and technology companies such as Google, BMW, Coca Cola, comScore and Nokia will be on hand to discuss emerging trends and present detailed insights on topics such as the mobile web, mobile marketing, LBS, apps, mobile commerce and mobile media. 2,100 visitors are expected to attend the event, which is significantly smaller than Spanish-based GSMA Mobile World Congress.

The Global Game Jam is a gaming tournament but rather than applauding player skills, it elevates designers' digits and programmers' prowess. Over 120 worldwide tournament locations have been officially registered as venues for the game-making frenzy, where competitors are organized into adhoc teams before attempting to churn out one of the best games of the tournament. The top entries are then put forward for March's prestigious Game Developers Conference in San Diego.

GSMA Mobile World Congress

GSMA Mobile World Congress is a four-day event dedicated to cutting-edge mobile technology. CeBIT 2011

In 2010, 4,157 exhibitors from 68 countries and more than 330,000 visitors made their way to Hannover for CeBIT. In its heyday the expo managed to draw around 700,000 visitors but it has since shrunk in size. Nevertheless, with its 450,000-square-meter exhibition space CeBIT remains the world's largest digital IT and telecommunications event and eclipses the likes of COMPUTEX, CES and SITEX in exhibition size. In 2011, visitors will see the fair split into four platforms: CeBIT pro for professional and business ICT solutions; CeBIT gov for the public sector; CeBIT lab for innovative research and development and CeBIT life for the latest trends in consumer electronics.
