On June 20, eight new health startups are launching, thanks to backing from Rock Health, a new seed accelerator aiming to promote health-related mobile and web startups.

Based in San Francisco, Rock Health reviewed applications from health startups, and selected 10 new companies for a grant, office space in San Francisco, as well as branding, medical, and legal support, along with mentoring from industry experts.

Mentors include Path CEO and early member of the Facebook team Dave Morin, cofounder of RedOctane Charles Huang, and former FDA deputy commissioner Scott Gottlieb. The program's advisors include Twitter VP of engineering Michael Abbott, cofounder of 23andMe Linda Avey, and founder and CEO of HealthTap and former founder and CEO of Wellsphere Ron Gutman. Rock Health has also partnered with the Mayo Clinic, Harvard Medical School, and Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

Other companies working as purpose-focused startup accelerators include Greenstar, which covers green technology, and Imagine K12, which focuses on education.
