Eight people are in hospital after a potentially deadly salmonella outbreak in Scotland.

They are among about 85 people struck down by the food poisoning bug.

The outbreak happened in Lanarkshire. None of the victims are in a serious condition.

Food Standards experts are investigating the outbreak and have declared it a national problem.

The bug can be fatal, especially in the elderly.
