IN THE United States, people committing suicide are more likely to use guns than any other means - nearly 60 per cent. Gun lobbyists argue that there is little point in banning guns because people wanting to commit suicide will always find a way. However, research published in the New England Journal of Medicine shows that a suicide is nearly five times as likely in a household where guns are available.
