OESTROGEN may be a useful treatment for angina in women, researchers from the National Heart and Lung Institute, London, have found. A study in the Lancet shows that in postmenopausal women angina can be effectively treated with oestradiol, a synthetic oestrogen hormone. Oestrogen also shows promise as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease. A Japanese study of 15 Alzheimer's patients, reported in Mims Magazine, found oestrogen treatment resulted in improvements.
